Accessibility
Our aim
We want everyone to be able to read and use this site, whatever device or assistive technology they use. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What we do
- Pages use semantic HTML with one main heading, ordered sub-headings, landmarks and labelled forms.
- Every page works with a keyboard alone, including the menus and the comparison table controls.
- Text and background colours meet the contrast ratios in WCAG 2.1 AA, and nothing is conveyed by colour alone: comparison marks are always written out in words.
- Images carry text alternatives, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Text can be resized to 200% without loss of content, and pages work at phone widths without horizontal scrolling.
- Pages are rendered on the server, so content is available without JavaScript.
What we are still working on
Downloadable templates and any PDF documents will be checked for accessibility before they are published. Tables with many columns are presented one column at a time on small screens, which may take longer to read with a screen reader.
