About R&D Tax Academy
R&D Tax Academy explains how R&D tax incentives work in seven countries: the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
What we do
R&D Tax Academy was founded in June 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, to help minimise the disruption to R&D training and education for R&D tax professionals. It was created by Swanson Reed, whose founding history tells the longer story.
We publish plain-English guides to each country's scheme, compare the rules side by side and are developing training programs for companies and tax professionals. You can register interest in a program for your country.
Who it is for
- Companies that claim, or are deciding whether to claim: finance teams, founders and technical leads.
- Tax professionals who prepare or review claims: advisors, accountants and in-house tax teams.

How we keep content accurate
The rules on this site come from official guidance, and every page says when it was last checked.
- Official sources
- Every country guide links to the official guidance it is based on.
- Dated facts
- Pages show the date their facts were last checked, and that date changes when we update them.
- One set of facts
- Each figure is stated once and reused in the tiles, tables and guides, so the figures match across the site.
- Not advice
- We publish general information. We do not give tax advice or prepare claims through this site.
Seven countries
One site covers all seven schemes, each with its own guide, sources and program editions.
